Magento is a relatively new Shopsytem by the company Varien from California and has raised over the past year a real hype - and not without justification.
The open source software provides all the previous shop systems by a sophisticated and flexible structure in the shade.
Here are some features of the system:

- very search engine friendly, unlike other CMS
- many functions are "Out of the Box" available to an easier work the (Google Base, Google Analytics, Paypal payment system, various shipping modules with interfaces to the packet services, ...)
- large and growing community for a very good development
- very simple operation for customers and operators
- very flexible in terms of product management (Downloadable Products, virtual products (eg zustätzl. services without Warehouse Management), extensible attributes, all individually to the products, Upsell, Cross Sell, ...)

Because Magento is a very young system yet, the documentation is still very rare. Therefore I would like to facilitate
shop operators to work and teach in the near future the basics of managing a Magento shops.
